To promote financial independence among rural women, a tailoring and micro-enterprise development program was implemented in Sivagangai district.
The three-month training included tailoring techniques, business management, pricing strategies, and digital marketing basics. Participants also received guidance on accessing government schemes and micro-finance support.
Out of 75 women trained, 60 established home-based tailoring units, while 10 secured employment in garment production units.
Within six months of completion, participants reported an average monthly income increase of ₹7,000–₹10,000. The initiative strengthened women's confidence, decision-making capacity, and community leadership.
