The Advanced Diploma in International Tourism and Hospitality Management is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills required in the global tourism, travel, and hospitality industry. The programme combines academic learning with vocational training to develop a strong foundation in industry operations and business practices.

Students will gain in-depth understanding of tourism management, hospitality operations, customer experience, and service excellence, along with exposure to key business disciplines such as marketing, human resource management, and organizational practices.

This qualification prepares students for career advancement in tourism and hospitality sectors or progression to higher-level studies, with a strong global mindset and industry relevance.

Course Objectives 

  1. To provide a foundation understanding to the operational environment in tourism and current trends in tourism and hospitality.  
  2. To develop competencies for entry-level jobs in the travel, tourism, food and beverage, and hospitality industry.
  3. To provide students with the ability to synthesise knowledge, understanding and practical skills in a vocational context.
  4. To gain hands on experience through the industry attachment (internship)
  5. To gain knowledge and skills useful in the global tourism and hospitality context.  
  6. To learn the importance of digital transformation and sustainability in tourism and hospitality business.
Program Structure
Internship Included

Duration: 6 Months

The programme includes an internship component that provides practical industry experience in hotels, tourism services, and hospitality operations. Students will gain exposure to front office, guest services, event coordination, and travel-related roles. Internship opportunities vary based on employer requirements and student performance. Some students may receive paid internships depending on company policies and Singapore regulations.

Course Curriculum

Covers the principles of marketing within tourism and hospitality, including the marketing mix, consumer behaviour, and application of digital marketing strategies to promote products and services

Focuses on sustainable practices in tourism and hospitality. Includes environmental impact, cultural heritage, and strategies for responsible and sustainable industry development.

Examines current trends and issues in tourism, including evolving consumer behaviour and special interest tourism. Covers the role and responsibilities of tour guides in modern tourism.

Explores the impact of technology on tourism and hospitality. Covers digital tools, reservation systems, revenue management, and strategies to enhance customer experience through digital innovation

Provides understanding of tourism planning processes, government policies, and regulations. Includes analysis of the impact of tourism on communities and the environment, and development of ethical practices.

Focuses on destination development and management. Includes strategic planning, industry roles, and application of critical thinking to improve tourism destinations.

Develops leadership and management skills in hospitality settings. Covers communication, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving in managing tourism and hospitality operations.

Provides practical industry exposure, enabling students to apply advanced knowledge in real-world tourism and hospitality environments while developing professional and leadership skills.

Students who do not meet internship requirements must complete a Research Project (2 months) with similar learning outcomes.

C6 in GCE ‘O’ Level English or equivalent qualification, or a pass in the college’s English placement test.

Experience

Work experience is not required. However, candidates with prior exposure to tourism, hospitality, customer service, or related industries will have an added advantage. Mature applicants with relevant experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
