The Diploma in International Tourism and Hospitality Management is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills required in the global tourism and hospitality industry. Course Objectives

  • To provide a foundational understanding of the tourism and hospitality operational environment and current industry trends.
  • To develop competencies for entry-level roles in travel, tourism, food and beverage, and hospitality industries.
  • To equip students with the ability to apply knowledge, understanding, and practical skills in a vocational context.
  • To provide hands-on experience through industry attachment (internship).
  • To develop knowledge and skills relevant to the global tourism and hospitality sector.
  • To build awareness of digital transformation and sustainability practices in the tourism and hospitality industry.
  • Program Structure
    Internship Included

    Duration: 6 Months

    The programme includes an internship component that provides practical industry experience in hotels, tourism services, and hospitality operations. Students will apply their knowledge in real-world environments such as front office, guest services, food and beverage, and travel-related roles. Internship opportunities vary depending on employer requirements and student performance. Some students may receive paid internships based on company policies and Singapore regulations.

    Course Curriculum

    Develops communication skills required in professional environments, including understanding industry terminology, conveying information effectively, and presenting ideas using appropriate communication technologies

    Prepares students for employment through understanding industry roles, developing interview skills, and creating professional resumes. Emphasizes career planning and workplace readiness.

    Provides an overview of the hospitality industry, including key departments such as front office, housekeeping, guest services, reservations, and concierge. Emphasizes the importance of customer service in hospitality operations.

    Covers the planning and management of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). Includes budgeting, marketing, logistics, risk management, and the use of modern technologies in event management.

    Introduces the structure and functions of the travel and tourism industry, including major destinations, services, and the economic impact of tourism at local and global levels.

    Focuses on food and beverage service operations, including planning, preparation, presentation, and service techniques. Covers menu planning, pricing, inventory management, and teamwork in service environments.

    Provides practical industry exposure, enabling students to apply knowledge and skills in real-world tourism and hospitality environments while developing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

    Students who do not meet internship requirements must complete a Research Project (2 months) with similar learning outcomes.

    C6 in GCE ‘O’ Level English or equivalent qualification, or a pass in the college’s English placement test.
